RiffTune: An iPhone app for guitar practice

About RiffTune

Mission

Make practice the easy part: everything a guitarist needs to tune up, learn the fretboard, and keep time, in one app.

The challenge

Guitar players often juggle separate apps to tune, learn, and keep time. RiffTune set out to put the everyday tools of practice in one place.

What New Plot built

RiffTune lesson path starting with Unit 1, First Notes
RiffTune tuner reading a low E string at 82.4 Hz
RiffTune fretboard showing an A minor chord shape
RiffTune's lessons, tuner, and fretboard reference

New Plot designed and built an iPhone app with a tuner that reads pitch live, a guided lesson path organized into units, a notebook of fretboard notes, scales, and chords, and a metronome with adjustable tempo and time signature.

  • Tuner with live pitch readout
  • Guided lessons in units
  • Fretboard, scale, and chord reference
  • Metronome with tempo and time signature

The result

Players open one app to tune up, work through the next lesson, look up a chord shape, and practice in time.
